As a reminder to all students, the five-week marking period ends next Friday, so I will be closing my grade books next Friday at 3:00 p.m. All late work must be turned in before then, or it will remain a zero.

Here's today's recap!

English 8

We finished up chapter 3 today, and Ponyboy isn't doing very well! When he got home late (at 2 a.m. rather than midnight, when he was supposed to be home), his brothers were incredibly worried about him. Darry was especially upset because if they'd had to call the police, it could have meant that Ponyboy and Sodapop would have been sent to a boy's home (foster care) and they would have been separated. During the argument, Darry snapped at Sodapop, which upset Ponyboy, who then yelled at Darry. Without thinking, Darry slapped Ponyboy. Surprised and hurt, Ponyboy ran from the house and told Johnny that they were going to run away. Though he decided to go back, it looks like the boys might be about to get into some trouble.

Please finish your vocab and chapter 3 study guide questions. Remember, if you have all three chapter activities turned in by the end of the day today, you'll earn a free homework pass!

English 9 and 9 Honors

After the quiz on different types of villains, you began work on your Villain Planning Page. You are not to begin the story yet! Since this story is going to let me assess your skills at creating and understanding characters, I want you to choose the type of character you're going to write about. Once you've made that decision, I'll give you stories to choose from based on your character type.

Please finish your planning sheet by the end of the day on Wednesday.
